Keith Haring takes over NO MAYO‘s mind and eyes today at the Gregg Shienbaum Gallery. Haring is a world renown artist from the ’80s, once celebrated amongst some of the most talented and popularized figures to ever touch a canvas; including Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol.
The Gregg Shienbaum Gallery featured Haring’s work from 1982 to 1990, sharing styles that exceeded platforms and outlets. Most of the art was new to me, experiencing mixed media mashups and beautiful doodles across multifaceted canvases.
Seeing the familiar patterns of zigzagged shapes, in Keith’s charming style, left a smile on my face. The kind that comes after bumping into an old friend while on vacation. Shienbaum’s exhibit was also beautifully orchestrated with a layout that diversified the collection, while maintaining a calm flow. I was lucky to catch the work just before the end of the exhibition, December 31, 2015. Sorry, folks.
Open your mind, not just your mouth.
