25 years ago a legend walked the earth. He created pieces that shaped the art world and welcomed a different hue to their space. Jean-Michel Basquiat was an art enigma and his work continues to impact culture to this day. He was more than a face plastered on t-shirts, he was a revolution, and we wanted to celebrate him.

The Basquiat 25 Commemoration Open Call allowed fans to share their celebration and create motifs that pay homage to the trailblazer. We received a few entries, but one stood out to us the most. Naomi Edmondson‘s piece captured the angst and battle that Jean-Michel faced during his career, but highlighted icons of his most famous work.

Thank you to all that entered and continue to celebrate Jean-Michel’s work. Help us pay tribute to this legend and continue to glorify his name. He was more than just his face. We’re glad you know his work.
