Brooklyn Museum presents:
Art Off the Wall: The Rise of Sneaker Culture
Thursday, July 16, 2015, 6:30–9:30 p.m.

Join us for an evening in celebration of the exhibition Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture. This immersive experience will include close looking in the galleries, discussion, performance, and social good all inspired by the evolution of the sneaker and sneaker culture in the United States and abroad.

6:30–9:30 p.m. Heeling Soles Sneaker Drive
Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
This sneaker drive, hosted by Heeling Souls, will collect the shoes for people to step up and out of poverty. Bring your gently worn items or new sneakers.

6:30-7:30 p.m. Dance Performance
Outside of the Museum and Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
Join us for a live break dancing performance.

7 p.m. Discussion: “Sole Sister Revolution”
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
Step into a conversation honoring women sneaker collectors, designers, and media makers hosted by Obsessive Sneaker Disorder’s Sean Williams. Participants include:

Sole De Vida- Sneaker collector/Consumer Featured by New Balance
April Walker- Owner / Creator of the 1st Urban Fashion Brand Walker Wear
Sophia Chang – New York born-and-bred illustrator and designer

7:30-9:30 p.m. Dance Party with I Love Vinyl
Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
Move your feet (sneaker-clad, or not) at our all-vinyl dance party featuring music inspired by the exhibit, and the evolution of the sneaker and sneaker culture in general, as curated and played by the musically well-heeled I Love Vinyl djs (ilovevinyl.org).
